The CDC has launched a new Covid-19 Immunization Workgroup tasked with reviewing serious concerns related to the safety and effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccines. The group will operate under the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and will be chaired by Dr. Retsef Levi, a professor of operations management at MIT.

The group is set to examine a broad range of vaccine-related issues that have sparked controversy and public concern. These include vaccine-related injuries, deaths, hospitalizations, disabilities, and the effects of repeated booster doses. The workgroup will also investigate risks to pregnant women — a group for which no large clinical trials were conducted before vaccine recommendations were issued.

According to CDC documents, the panel will explore potential contamination in the vaccines, including high levels of plasmid DNA, and assess how long materials such as spike protein and mRNA may remain in the body. These issues have been the subject of criticism from scientists, watchdogs, and vaccine-injured individuals who say they’ve been ignored by federal agencies for years.

Levi acknowledged the lack of transparency from public health authorities and emphasized the importance of addressing unknowns that remain even years after the vaccine rollout.

“We need to be fully transparent about what we know, and what we don’t, and unfortunately that was not always practised consistently in the past. My intention is to be part of changing that.”

The formation of the workgroup comes on the heels of two Senate hearings led by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) that spotlighted testimony from injured individuals, medical experts, and researchers. It also follows Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision in June to remove all 17 members of the prior ACIP committee due to financial conflicts of interest with vaccine manufacturers.

Levi is joined on the new panel by Dr. Robert Malone, known for his role in early mRNA vaccine research, and Dr. James Pagano, a veteran emergency physician. The CDC says the workgroup will remain active until its mission is fulfilled.

Children’s Health Defense CEO Mary Holland said the creation of the group was long overdue and emphasized the damage already done.

“Together with many civil society organizations, Children’s Health Defense has stated that these mRNA injections should long ago have been removed from the market, given the extraordinary level of reported injuries and deaths they have caused.”

Levi also criticized existing vaccine safety surveillance systems, stating that they are not designed to detect long-term or non-specific adverse events. He noted that assumptions about vaccine harm being limited to short-term effects are flawed and unsupported by real-world data.

He further raised concerns about the unpredictability of mRNA technology. Unlike traditional vaccines with a fixed dose, mRNA shots instruct the body’s cells to manufacture spike protein — a process that could vary significantly from person to person, with no reliable measurement of how much spike protein is produced or for how long.

Cardiologist Dr. Peter McCullough added that accountability must come next if the government ultimately acknowledges the damage caused.

“If and when a safety review is undertaken and if and when the Covid-19 vaccines are pulled from the market, the public will ask ‘why did this take so long and why were so many allowed to be harmed by mRNA biotechnology?’”

Dr. Meryl Nass, a longtime critic of CDC vaccine policy, offered a two-word prediction:

“Expect fireworks.”

The CDC has not provided a firm timeline for when the workgroup will deliver its findings.
