(POLL) Majority back Trump’s call for a new national census

The following is from Rasmussen Reports.

A new Rasmussen Reports survey finds that most voters support President Donald Trump’s order for a new census after errors were found in the 2020 count.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) of likely US voters say they approve of Trump’s decision, including 36% who say they strongly approve. Thirty-four percent (34%) say they disapprove, with 24% who say they strongly disapprove.

Trump announced the new census after researchers found the 2020 census overcounted populations in eight states and undercounted in six others. He said illegal immigrants will not be included.

On that point, 52% of voters say illegal immigrants should not be counted, while 36% say they should be counted, and 11% say they are not sure. Among those who oppose counting illegal immigrants, 74% say they support Trump’s order.

By party, 83% of Republicans, 43% of Democrats, and 49% of unaffiliated voters say they at least somewhat approve of the move. Nearly half (49%) of Democrats say the census should count illegal immigrants, compared to majorities of Republicans (65%) and unaffiliated voters (57%) who say they should not.

Looking back at the 2024 election, 52% of Kamala Harris voters say the census should count illegal immigrants, while 70% of Trump voters say they should not.

The survey of 1,184 likely voters was conducted August 11-13, 2025, with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.

  1. I currently presently not at any point figured out like it’s far even conceivable yet one in everything about partner buddy made $27,000 best (tr54) inside about a month essentially completing this smooth chance and moreover she has provoked me to benefit. forward-thinking data on visiting following

  2. The census is there to count the population and determine demographics and the utilization of all resources, and for apportionment, so all should be counted. However, there should be distinction between US naturalized citizens, non-citizen legal residents, and non-citizens here but not under valid residence rules. laws and regulations.

Apportionment can be based upon the location of legal citizens eligible to vote. National resource allocation can depend upon all who live, work and reside here legally… but no apportionment or resources should be provided for those not residing legally within our borders. (Except, perhaps, deportation resources… and… the native country from which the illegals are from should also share accountability and the cost required to repatriate their citizens/subjects.)

I have lived and worked in four foreign countries, but only under valid visas provided by the host country. For instance, I was given 90 days to sell everything and repatriate myself from Canada when my job ended there. It would have been the same everywhere else I have lived and worked. On top of that, I would not have dreamed of being able to stay in another country beyond the dates my passport what stamped with, or the period of time even a tourist visa was granted.

  3. They should count illegals, otherwise SCOTUS will rule it invalid. BUT they should categorize them as illegal, for two reasons. One, we get a count of them, albeit it will never be accurate. Two, we can then choose to NOT use them for apportionment and let SCOTUS rule on that single point (of course there will be lawsuits), not whether or not they got counted.
