Glad that Dr. Lapado identified the inability to document adverse effects in the coding and systems used for medical documentation/billing. There were a lot of problems collecting good data during COVID. On a related topic: Looking at the big picture of the operations of modern medicine, the doctors’ salaries are generally paid by governmental and private insurance companies (including HMOs) with less direct pay by individual patients. Speaking for myself as an “independent”, the “rules” that I followed during COVID came from those entities as well as licensing boards. For example, when the former government administration mandated “vaccines” for anyone who had government contracts (as I did), I was grateful that my staff had all WANTED to get the “vaccine” (they asked me to facilitate their ability to get it early on and signed up for it themselves individually) because I strongly opposed the idea of mandating it. I got the “vaccine” early on because I was considered high risk and I had wanted to participate in the trials but was not able, and was shocked that I seemed to be one of the few that didn’t see it as experimental still. I followed the rules set by the local government in order not to lose my business and professional licenses. I followed the recommendations set by my professional board so as not to incur any license loss, sanctions or fines. There’s also OSHA, etc. The pharmaceutical companies are intertwined with the insurances and the professional organizations, and all of these influences are significant. COVID policy was a runaway train of administrative fiefdoms in my opinion.
