(WATCH) Ashli Babbit-Update

An update to a story we’ve been covering for over 4 years.. An honorable ending for Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed protestor who was the only person killed the morning of January 6, 2021.

The following is a transcript of a report from “Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson.”
Watch the video by clicking the link at the end of the page.

On October 10, 2020, Ashli Babbitt celebrated her 35th birthday.

Three months later, she set off for Washington D.C. and joined an estimated tens of thousands of like-minded Trump supporters at a rally protesting what they see as a “stolen election.”

Not long after a photo of Ashli Babbit draped in a pro-Trump campaign cape was taken, she marched to the U.S. Capitol where Congress was certifying the 2020 election results.

There, unarmed and still wearing the cape, Babbitt started to climb through a broken window and was shot dead.

Shary (on camera): Babbitt was shot and killed by Lt. Michael Byrd, an officer with the US Capitol police.Late this summer the Secretary of the Air Force sent a letter to the Babbitt family offering full military funeral honors.. Something that had been denied by the Biden administration. That follows on the heels of a nearly $5million wrongful death settlement against the US government.

  1. Sara, with all due respect, stop picking at a scab. Things never heal when you pick at them. They just get infected. It is tragic that this woman, and 4 OTHERS, lost their lives. It was a dark day in American history. It is imperative that we be better than this. There were failures of civil society on multiple levels both right and left. From Pelosi and her refusal of multiple requests of reinforcing security to bad actors in the crowd urging lawlessness (never did see a satisfying explanation of Ray Epps and recent revelations of over 200 FBI “operatives,” what ever that means.) Read the book Animal Spirits. It only takes a few in a crowd to turn a mass gathering of people into a lawless mob. Recall the Summer of 2020 riots. In our current era, emotion has taken priority over reasoned decision making, If history is a chronicle, it happens repeatedly. I remember a phrase from the 60’s: “If it feels good, do it!” Bad Plan. Didn’t work out well in the 60’s, it won’t work out well today. I’ll say it again, it is a tragedy that this woman was killed. It was a mob at the capital that day, instigated by bad actors for political gain. Ashley Babbit was 35 years old. An “adult” by most measures. She was former military. She should have known better than to be “caught up in the moment”. It’s called self discipline; Clear thinking when under stress. It is a staple of military training. Or used to be. Again to be clear, I’m am NOT exonerating the officer who dischared his weapon. She shouldn’t have been in the building. She and 4 others shouldn’t have died that day. America is currently in the throws of a “Color Revolution”. A strategy, that this country developed to incite regime change in other countries, is now being used against us. Arab Spring. Ukrainian Orange revolution. Karma is a bitter pill. Election Fraud. Division. Political manipulation. Assassination and attempted assassination. Social unrest fomented and then exploited through “social media”. Sara stop the distractions. We are $40 trillion in debt. We have real problems to solve. We the People had better “put on our Big Boy Pants” and get our collective head screwed on straight, roll up our sleeves and get to work solving real problems or this ‘great experiment’ will end. We all better grow up. And fast. The pinnacle of human achievement is emotional self regulation.

  2. Here’s a counterfactual: Suppose that Trump had won the 2020 election and Biden had summoned a mob to Washington to try to overturn the results. And in the ensuing riot, Ashley Babbitt (a Biden supporter in this counterfactual) had been killed under the same circumstances as her actual death. There are two things that would almost certainly be true.
The first is that SA and the vast majority of this newsletter’s readership would have condemned Biden for holding the rally and would have held him responsible for the resulting mayhem. There would have been no credit given for Biden having used the word “peacefully”. They would have laughed at the idea that anyone but Biden was responsible.
The second thing is that there would be no outpouring of sympathy for her in this newsletter. SA and the vast majority of this newsletter’s readers would have pointed out that Babbitt’s actions made her complicit in her death by entering the Capitol in the first place and subsequently refusing to obey police orders. It would have been pointed out that, even though Babbitt herself was unarmed, there was no way that the police would have known that. And it would have been pointed out that the mob was calling for violence against members of Congress (you know, the very people that the Capitol police are sworn to protect) and had already committed acts of brutality on members of the Capitol police. The general tone would have been “she got what she deserved”.
How do I know this? Because the vast majority of the readership would consider themselves to be pro-police, believing members of the “we back the blue” crowd. Yet when push came to shove, they abandoned that stance simply to not have to blame Trump for anything. They conveniently ignored the evidence of their eyes and avoided expressing the slightest sympathy for members of the Capitol police who were injured that day. Indeed, they spent a lot of effort parsing the events of the day to point out that only Babbitt actually died that day, as if those who died in the days following the riot were not victims of it. Although that claim is factually true, it begs the question: how many of those Capitol police who died in the immediate aftermath of the riot would be alive today if not for the riot?
The most disgusting response to the last paean to Babbitt (one year ago) came from a reader who said that Sicknick had a bad heart and shouldn’t have been a police officer as if that excuses anyone involved in the riot from complicity in his death. Pretty heartless stuff.
But somehow the response is even worse than a simple lack of sympathy. They’re not just agnostic toward the police, they’re actually antagonistic toward them. Now Michael Byrd is being called a murderer. Yet the simple fact is that if Byrd had been defending some federal building during the George Floyd riots and had shot someone who was part of a mob trying to break into the building all the while threatening those inside, the same folks would have been commending his bravery. You know it, and I know it.
I agree that Babbitt’s death is a tragedy, and I really do feel sorry for her friends and family. I really do. But I am sick to death of this rewriting of history, especially when literally all the facts point the other way. As retired general Mark Hertling put it, Ashley Babbitt didn’t die defending the constitutional order, she died attacking it.
So tell me where I’m wrong. Tell me that the mob hadn’t ignored police orders to disperse. Tell me that they hadn’t threatened violence against members of Congress. Tell me that they hadn’t already committed acts of violence against the police. Point me to where SA has expressed the least bit of sympathy for those Capitol police who were injured or died during that day or the days immediately following. Try to convince me that there is any evidence that the person primarily responsible for the riot was someone other than Trump.
    Go ahead. I’m waiting.

Re : Democrat Jay Jones’ Secret ( murderous ) Passion—It is Genetic
( Think : pit-bulls’ genetic, near-unpredictable proclivity to kill. Yes, it is
more prevalent in the AFRICAN germ-line while CAUCASIAN whiteys are
genetically more restrained from expressing violence/lawlessness/
    passions )

T-H-E Democrat Party has morphed into celebrating/advancing LIMBIC-/REPTILIAN-Brain Passions ( lusts : to rape, rob, and murder—to gain an advantage in social interactions ).

Read/Study “My Organic Psychology” reports, which essays use/examine our dichotomous brain as model—to define/explain respective left-vs.-right, oppositional, binary, projection of that dichotomous nature driving conflict/discord/war :

LEFT-brain Logical ( executive brain ) versus RIGHT-brain Emotional ( limbic brain )—picture a DEVIL sitting on your left shoulder, whispering into that ear and tempting an expression of your limbic brain’s lusts; and picture an ANGEL sitting on your right shoulder, whispering restraint and patience and self-control via left-brain executive’s self-control ( any confusion may spring from the body’s cross-lateralization phenomenon, where the left ear feeds the emotion-driven, right-hemisphere brain; and the right ear feeds the left-hemisphere brain—which dichotomous brain phenomenon this scribbler has termed, “political cross-lateralization” ).

Much of that passion in men, of whatever race, springs from TESTOSTERONE ( T ) levels (( for an example—black females’ T is near to WHITE men’s production-level )) :

From “The Male Brain,” by Louann Briezendine; page 150, in NOTES : “. . . Archer 2006 found that in societies where the dominant male’s display of anger enforces order, angry faces serve an important purpose. The battles for dominance in the promate kingdom, where the alpha male stares down [[ see black males’ feeling of disrespect whenever another male won’t avert his eyes—the “Knock-Out game” against WHITE men by African males results from that hereditable trigger ]] his opponent and the loser averts his eyes, are observed in humans, too—so much so that high testosterone is associated with staring endurance [[ why this scribbler advises white male friends not to make eye contact with black males ]], or face-to-face dominance. Men with less testosterone have been shown to exhibit more submissive behavior by breaking eye contact, looking down and away [[ black men continually test non-African men ]].”

AND “Olweus 1988 found that high levels of testosterone made boys moe impatient and irritable [[ why FORCED INTEGRATION has wrecked/impeded/damaged high-quality education for white boys in public schools—why teachers suffer physical threats from black boys ]], which in turn increased their propensity to engage in aggressive-destructive behavior [[ keep in mind, BRUTALITARIAN Bolshevik men in Russia ( 1900-1915 ) had bragged/written of their intention to defeat the capitalist/meritorious/white West via the forced-integration of the African race into their White Civil Societies—and so they have ! ]].”

Pages 150 to 154 lists 42 studies related to
    male-brain/T-hormone, conditional behaviors;
and read/study her book, “The Female Brain.”

  4. It is a shame that most democrats do not understand that this innocent victim was the only person who actually died because of the rally on January 6th. It was never an insurrection. It was more like a coup that the Democrats successfully managed to pull off because of their lies and schemes and manipulation of the facts and news.

  7. Adding insult to the tragedy of Ashli Babbitt’s death (murder in my view) is that Lt Michael Byrd has not been charged, is still employed by Capitol Police and was promoted to Capt Aug 2023.

  8. Jeffery Wayne Tartt

I wonder if Byrd is haunted by his actions? The majority of those who take someone’s life, whether it be a police officer or someone in the military, doesn’t really matter the situation. That action will haunt you the rest of your days. Killing an unarmed woman who was no physical threat to Byrd. How does he sleep at night? Maybe you can ask him that, Sharyl. Although I do not think he’s man enough to show up to an interview.
