Most US likely voters say the news media has not done a good job covering President Donald Trump’s administration, and relatively few believe the coverage has been friendly, according to a new Rasmussen Reports survey.
The poll finds that 32% of likely US voters rate the quality of news media coverage of the Trump administration as good or excellent, down from 35% in August. Meanwhile, 42% now rate the media’s coverage of Trump as poor.
When asked about tone, 43% of voters say most national news media organizations are hostile toward Trump. Just 16% say the media are friendly to Trump, down from 22% in August. Thirty percent say most national news media organizations are neutral and objective in their coverage, while 10% say they are not sure.
Views differ sharply depending on how voters rate media performance. Among those who say the media’s coverage of the Trump administration is poor, 58% say most news organizations are hostile toward Trump. Among those who rate media coverage as excellent, most say national news organizations are either friendly or neutral.
Opinions also vary by political affiliation. Forty-one percent of Republicans rate media coverage of the Trump administration as good or excellent, compared with 28% of Democrats and 27% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Sixty-four percent of Republicans say most national news media organizations are hostile to Trump, compared with 24% of Democrats and 42% of unaffiliated voters.
The survey of 1,122 likely US voters was conducted January 4–6, 2026, by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Sorry, that poll is very, very wrong!!!! The MSM is 100% hostile to president Trump. They are an arm of the Democratic party. The Dems know they can do anything they want without consequences. There is zero honesty in their reporting. The MSM and Dems are destroying America,
