(POLL) GOP holds narrow advantage on key issues

The following is from Rasmussen Reports.

Republicans hold a slight advantage over Democrats on two major issues likely to affect the upcoming midterm elections, according to a new Rasmussen Reports survey.

The poll finds that 46% of likely US voters trust Republicans more to handle the economy, compared with 44% who trust Democrats more. Eleven percent say they are not sure. Republicans hold the same two-point edge on immigration, with 46% trusting Republicans and 44% trusting Democrats. Ten percent say they are not sure.

The Republican advantage on the economy is unchanged since last April. However, the GOP has lost ground on immigration, where Republicans previously held a much larger lead over Democrats.

Partisan affiliation plays a major role in voter trust. Most Republicans say they trust their party more on both the economy and immigration, while most Democrats say they trust their own party more on those same issues. Voters not affiliated with either major party are more evenly divided.

The survey of 1,155 likely US voters was conducted January 25–27, 2026, by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
