An overwhelming majority of likely US voters say they have a favorable opinion of the US military, and most also say recent military action against Iran has been successful, according to a new Rasmussen Reports survey.
Eighty-one percent (81%) of likely US voters say they view the US military favorably, including 53% who say they have a very favorable impression. Fifteen percent (15%) say they have an unfavorable opinion.
The US began Operation Epic Fury on February 28, targeting Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missiles. Sixty-five percent (65%) say US military attacks in the campaign against Iran have been successful, including 36% who say they have been very successful. Twenty-six percent (26%) say the attacks have not been successful, including 12% who say they have not been successful at all. Ten percent (10%) say they are not sure.
Majorities across political parties say they view the military favorably, including 91% of Republicans, 75% of Democrats and 76% of voters not affiliated with either major party.
The survey of 1,137 likely US voters was conducted March 11–12 and 15, 2026. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
