The following is from Gallup News.
A majority of Americans say they believe they pay too much in taxes, with views remaining largely unchanged in recent years, according to a new Gallup poll.
Fifty-nine percent (59%) say they think the amount of federal income tax they pay is too high. Thirty-seven percent (37%) say their taxes are about right, while just 3% say they are too low.

Americans’ dissatisfaction with taxes has held steady since 2023 and remains higher than levels seen in the early 2000s, though still below peaks recorded from the 1970s through the 1990s.
Views on fairness remain relatively negative. Forty-seven percent (47%) say the income tax they will pay this year is fair, near one of the lowest points measured in Gallup polling, while 49% say their taxes are not fair.
Differences between political groups are relatively modest. Sixty-four percent (64%) of independents, 60% of Republicans and 49% of Democrats say they believe their taxes are too high. Republicans and Democrats report similar views on fairness, while independents are less likely to say their taxes are fair.
Gallup notes that attitudes toward taxes have shifted in recent years alongside economic conditions and policy changes, but overall sentiment has remained near some of the most negative levels seen in the past two decades.
The findings are based on a Gallup poll conducted March 2–18, 2026.

when I was a child in the mid-1950s mom didn’t work. day worked in aerospace and it was rocky; seems like he got laid off every two years when big government contracts went elsewhere.
but mom stayed at home until we moved to Pomona in 1965 and she took a part-time job writing articles about the school district for the local paper, The Progress Bulletin.
seems to me that a man could raise a family back then, but not today. today the mothers prefer to warehouse the kids in “quality day care’ (quote Therapist Bill Clin-ton) so some pimply-faced teenager can show them movies like ‘Aladdin’ over and over, so mom can have that second car…they can afford that vacation.
and it seems mystifying that the days of the dad-as-breadwinner are gone. what no-one ever grasps is, it’s because of TAXES. they’re too high. way too high. but nobody seems to think they need to come down.
mystifying.

And all the fraud just makes it worse! How much has been stolen from taxpayers? What programs to help citizens could have been implemented for all that money? Could we have housed and taken care of all our Veterans? Or our elderly? How much has been recovered from the measly trials that have taken place so far? Not enough! And judges letting these creeps off with a slap on the wrist and a little fine (little compared to what they have stolen) is enraging! Makes me wonder how much of a cut the freaking judges are getting for these light sentences!

You pay taxes every time you spend money.
Corporate taxation is the reason. EVERY product sold, is priced to cover all business costs AND all compliance costs AND the actual taxes extracted.
On top of their social justice costs. Their transportation costs. And their stockholder’s ‘dividends.’
The actual cost of the product itself is only a very small proportion of the price.
In addition, the people pay sales taxes, excise taxes, property taxes. A person cannot avoid taxes because they are built into every transaction, when dealing with businesses.
When you count all these taxes, on top of personal income taxes, Americans are taxed close to 75% of their wages.
