I once knew a woman who worked as a radiologist at a large hospital in the MidWest. She warned me about NOT checking the organ donation box on the application to renew my driver’s license. She said if I was in an accident and couldn’t speak, (because organs are in such short supply-and so lucrative to a hospitals bottom line) that doctors would go ahead and push me to the front of the line for donation if no relatives were available to advise otherwise.
