Voters are divided over a recent Supreme Court decision striking down a Louisiana congressional district map as unconstitutional racial gerrymandering, according to a new Rasmussen Reports survey.
Forty percent (40%) of likely US voters say they approve of the court’s ruling, including 24% who say they strongly approve. Forty-three percent (43%) say they disapprove, while 17% say they are not sure.
The Supreme Court ruled in Louisiana v. Callais that the state’s district map improperly prioritized race over traditional redistricting standards.
Views differ sharply by party. Sixty-three percent (63%) of Republicans say they approve of the decision, while 59% of Democrats say they disapprove. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 34% say they approve, 44% say they disapprove and 22% say they are not sure.
Most voters say they have followed the case closely. Sixty-eight percent (68%) say they have followed news about the Supreme Court decision, including 34% who say they followed it very closely.
The survey of 1,101 likely US voters was conducted April 30 and May 3-4, 2026. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

IMO – Race based districting is segregation and tribalism. If you’re an American join with like minded people. Skin color doesn’t define one’s beliefs.
