Great story on organ donation and serious problems. Here is portion of similar story published about Mississippi organ donor last month, March 2026:
” . . . According to the suit, Paula Denison was taken to Anderson on March 17, 2022, where she was declared brain dead.
Afterward, Anderson personnel contacted MORA to send a representative to the hospital to discuss the possibility of donating organs. The family agreed to do so, and Denison was taken to MORA’s facility in Flowood.
The following day, nurses with MORA determined that Denison was showing signs of life, such as “spontaneous respirations, a reactive pupil, and the presence of coughing and gag reflexes,” court records state.
The court said MORA contacted the hospital, but did not reach out to Denison’s family, and she remained at MORA until 10:16 on the morning of March 19.
She was readmitted to Anderson, where doctors attempted to transfer her to another hospital. None would take her. Court records indicate that Denison was again pronounced dead on March 20.
