Gabbard: New documents show Fauci lied to Congress

The following information is fromĀ Children’s Health Defense.

Outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has released previously undisclosed communications and documents she says contradict Dr. Anthony Fauci’s 2024 congressional testimony about his interactions with intelligence agencies on gain-of-function coronavirus research.

The records, released inĀ four parts include emails, whistleblower materials, grant reports and scientific papers. According to Gabbard, they show Fauci directed funding for gain-of-function coronavirus research, influenced Intelligence Community assessments of Covid-19 and its origins, and worked with intelligence officials as those findings were developed.

The documents do not prove the lab-leak hypothesis. However, scientists cited in the report say they show officials suppressed or dismissed questions about the virus’ possible laboratory origin.

“Those who tied SARS-CoV-2 to the Wuhan laboratory ecosystem from the beginning are vindicated in pointing to a cover-up of the hypothesis, the conflicts, and the inquiry itself.”
— James Lyons-Weiler, Ph.D.

According to the documents, Fauci met with intelligence officials in 2021, presented evidence supporting a natural-origin explanation and recommended experts for officials to consult. Critics quoted in the report argue that role was more extensive than Fauci described during his 2024 congressional testimony.

The records also include grant reports describing NIH funding for bat coronavirus research involving EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak and the Wuhan Institute of Virology before the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as a 2021 whistleblower complaint alleging Fauci gave false testimony to Congress regarding gain-of-function research.

Gabbard said the documents also indicate whistleblowers and intelligence analysts who supported the lab-leak hypothesis faced retaliation. She said those claims have been referred to the Intelligence Community’s inspector general for review.

“These documents expose Fauci’s direct role in influencing and manipulating IC assessments on Covid-19, and how Fauci lied to Congress in 2024.”
— Tulsi Gabbard

The article notes that reactions to the release have been mixed. While some scientists called for further investigation, others argued much of the material had already been public or was heavily redacted.
