Sharyl Attkisson is a nonpartisan investigative journalist, five-time Emmy Award winner, and recipient of the Edward R. Murrow award for investigative reporting. She is the NYT bestselling author of Slanted: How the news media taught us to love censorship and hate journalism; The Smear: How Shady Political Operatives and Fake News Control What You See, What You Think and How You Vote, and Stonewalled. In September 2012, Attkisson received the Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Journalism and the RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Investigative Reporting for the "Gunwalker: Fast and Furious" story.
Attkisson received an Investigative Emmy Award in 2009 for her exclusive investigations into TARP and the bank bailout. She received an Investigative Emmy Award in 2002 for her series of exclusive reports about mismanagement at the Red Cross.
Attkisson also received Emmy nominations for her investigations into Firestone tires (2001), prescription drug and vaccine dangers (2003), investigating aid to Haiti earthquake victims (2011) and Follow the Money (2011).
Attkisson is one of the few journalists to have flown in a B-52 on a combat mission (over Kosovo) and in an F-15 fighter jet Combat Air Patrol flight. She is a fifth degree black belt Master in TaeKwonDo.
Previously, Attkisson hosted a medical news magazine on PBS called "HealthWeek," anchored and reported for CNN, and reported at several local news stations. She is a graduate of the University of Florida School of Journalism and Communications.

Of course I personally could read thousands of pages on Benghazi, Hillary, etc. But when you went into other subjects and the politics and machinations of the "news?" people, you never lost me for even one word! I am still reeling from reading Stonewalled! This should be required reading for every journalism major (if there still are journalism schools anymore.) The depths of dishonest self-serving government are worse than I ever imagined. Three words of advice for Ms. Attkisson: 1) hire a good bodyguard; 2) never stop writing the truth; 3) don't ever run for office.... we need you on the front lines to keep our country from sinking further into this swamp!!

Your chosen candidate or not - Trump is becoming the conduit, the means for American’s to voice their angry screams of disgust over our corrupt crony capitalist government. The time is beyond late, it is now or never for the country. Trump is fed up, the country is fed up, and with his help it is our last chance to stick it to the oligarchs and “Bring America Back” to the people. Let’s all hope and pray he is locked on this time around to go all the way. When you stop and think about it, his age and personality (too old to give a damn) and financial independence from the Uniparty bosses are the only way to break their backs. Omgoodness. I have heard the voice of not only reason but the voice of SANITY. Trump is many of the things that he's been called, a sexist, a with a good ole boy way of doing business. Because he says what he thinks when the words come out of his mouth Unsvripted like the rest of us. When we JQPublic are talking about anything not just politics. We don't have a copy from a speech writer. We don't have a monitor which to follow on any given topic. Our words are not perfect, nor our sentences. Just normal conversation. That's why Trump has resonated with the public. I understand him, because it's plain folk speak. Not high and mightier than me conversation. I'm elderly, worked very hard my whole life doing menial work. Laundry and ironing, motels, waitress etc. IM a proud conservative even if I haven't had the book learning many of you have had. I was not smart enough for college. That's okay I made my way in the world. It took every bit of our savings to care for my husbands care the last years of his life. Sold the house car, everything. I gave him the best care I could. Paying $7000.00 a month in a facility goes fast.plus all the extras needed and I had to live too. Now he has passed and I'm having to move to another state where I can get cheaper rent, and public transportation. I'm not complaining just explaining. I pray Mr. TRump beats the pants off that woman. Because I'd like to know how just HOW does someone who leaves the WHITE HOUSE and live like she has and be BROKE. What the US needs are true STATESMEN, who really design (limited) legislation to help make lives of the general citizenry stable in the best possible way. Wow. Everything you just described has been going on for YEARS! Of course every President will have "insiders." That is the point. Those "insiders" are people who the President (no matter WHO it is) trust. It is harder for President Trump because most of the people he trusts are missing a key component: politics. However, that is the REASON he chose them. Fresh faces to work on the things that need to be done, not work on the things the lobbyists and their cronies (the Congress) want done. As for his ties to Russia? NO more than any other President has to countries like that. Biden has ties to China, Obama had ties to China through Biden. If those ties influence policy (Like Clinton's did) in FAVOR of them, then that is bad. If the ties don't influence policy in favor of them, then that is not bad. Stumbled on the Trump/Post article and it is a fantastic piece of journalism. The media in this country is at a scary level as far as the amount of power they have over the public. They can, and do everything they can to impact mainstream opinion of everything from baby mice to something as important as a presidential election.

These properties bought by Taxpayer monies and owned by Postal Service.(which has lost $1197 in the last 10 Years). He will be paid commission from 2% to 6% and will potentially have a commission value of $950 million to $1.1 billion.

Terri, Mr. Blum's company was awarded a sweet deal for rebuilding some of Iraq's infrastructure after being invaded. Coincidence? This real estate deal with the USPO might produce only a "fraction" of the company's revenue, but a fraction of a fraction of multi-billions of dollars in real estate sales is still going to be a whopper of a dividend. The amount isn't important; what matters is the fact that Blum repeatedly gets the inside scoop on big deals because his wife is one of the old cronies inside the beltway. That is not a coincidence.
Hello, Mrs. Attkisson - my name is Mike Gibbons. I'm a disabled/retired New York State Court Officer that was selectively persecuted just for requesting a transfer to a workplace closer to home after being diagnosed with major illnesses that eventually required major surgery. I was refused that lawful transfer, exasperating my already serious conditions, and that violates the Federal ADA which requires that an accommodation be granted and this should be looked into. I have coveted information about how the NYS Office of Court Administration takes it's marching orders from a corrupt, Union President and local politician. You have so many Journalistic awards that you know, of course, you'll be swept off the market very quickly by a the type of network which reports, not edortalizes or ignores legitimate important stories, as well as for among the reasons mentioned above. It's all about your employer not consistently trying to be part of the story rather than reporting it and letting us, the great unwashed, arrive at our own conclusions. The Australian Gov will not let me have my home, or 5 years of writing and all my possessions unless I go back to prove who I am. My business Sydney Boat Sales which I had operated for 12 years suddenly lost all its customers and all the boats were removed from my marina on Sydney Harbor. Now for the third time in 3 years I am being told I have to have my Mental Health assessed as I am considered to be a physical threat to David Cameron. How? With what? I live at home looking after my 87 year old mum.

Although there is no doubt that Ms. Attkisson is an investigative reporter of the highest caliber and that her TEDx talk was insightful, it's also glaringly apparent that she favors right wing politicians. Her interview with Trump was a exhibition of weak journalism absent of any substantial inquiry for which she is known. During the interview, Trump washes over a sweeping range of domestic and foreign policy issues that are so outlandish that they approached the absurd. Not once did Ms. Attkisson press Trump for specifics. For instance, when referring to Trumps comments on North Korea and our troops stationed there and his "plan" to remove them or have the South Korean's pay for the costs, she didn't follow up with what ramifications might result if the troops were pulled or if we, as a government set a a policy of "pay for play" military presence. Those troops are there for US security first and foremost. When she asked Trump to explain his comments on punishing women for getting an abortion, she accepted his wishy washy explanation without pressing him on whether "punishment" was even legal if abortion is legal. She accepted his glossed over explanation about his use of the word "punishment" was really equated with the stress that a woman endures during such a procedure. Truly pathetic. Her interview with Trump was clearly sympathetic to her personal political views and proves the point that if someone does not stand up to a person who makes repeated racist and bigoted statements, they are, themselves complicit with racism and bigotry. Ms. Attkisson's show was also wrought with sound technical difficulties and points to a show that is being run by amateurs and speaks to her ineptitude within the political investigative arena. In short, her interview was sympathetic to Trump's rise because, she did not demand specifics to what are truly frightening proposals for a Trump administration. Ms. Attkisson should stick to her strong suit of investigative reporting on the pharma industry and leave the serious political journalism to those that are not so blatantly biased in their political leanings. Her interview with Trump was a sad effort to kick start a show that is clearly DOA and destined to flounder in the lower depths of right wing internet, sub-par programming.
I am impressed enough that I will look for _Stonewalled_
But I am dropping this to note that I think some guys went with the 8th Air Force over Europe before your time, in aircraft like B-17s and B-24s. USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson in Dayton, OH would probably know.

They do it right by holding down costs and giving students a clear picture of their expenses before they attend. At the same time, Grove City's academics are second to none with a real 97% placement rate for graduates.

For ordinary US citizens, Sharyl Attkisson is exactly what media needs. It is not the role of the "free" press to selectively report the news or the facts. It is not the role of any media to take sides in political discussion. Rather, the ONLY role of media is to report facts to a here-to-fore trusting American public. But as the media has changed from factual to agenda reporting, the American public will also begin to change. Say what you want, but Donald Trump has done more to bring the bias and selective narratives of big media to the attention of the American public than anyone ever has. Ms. Attkisson is a pure investigative journalist the kind of which we all must value even more these days. Here's wishing continued to success to her and that she will continue to serve as an inspiration to future journalists who care about their obligations to the American public.

The story you tell in the Epilogue to The Smear about Jessikka Aro is a higher tech version of what happened to Frederick Forsythe during his reporting of the Biafra conflict. He describes it in his autobiography: The Outsider: My Life in Intrigue. The British government and press discredited him because the story he was telling differed from the official policy.

The "network" which you suspect might exist and which you just discussed on Mike Gallagher's show includes the courts. Very hard to believe but I believe I have seen concrete evidence of collusion between courts and DOJ.
I used to do investigations myself; worked informally with federal law enforcement.
I don't say such things lightly. I have seen evidence of ex parte contacts which are absolutely wrong.

This may be a bit off topic but I know of no other means to voice a concern and I hope you find it worth consideration. Regarding the tariff imposition on China imports, I found an importer, Grizzly, Inc., who has stated that they are immediately charging 25% tariff fee on all imported products. This includes product they already have in stock which was imported BEFORE the new tariff. They also state that they will reduce the tariff fee when and if it is recinded and when they have depleted their stock upon which it was imposed. This seems to give sellers a way to increase their profits by 25% by charging a fee on product imported BEFORE the tariff imposition.
Ted Talks has always struck me as inherently deceptive in its 15 minute approach to understanding, and to be honest I dumped all immediate media decades ago, around the time I ran into Chomsky.
However, I believe the '96 telecommunications act that killed the public mandate was what turned all traditional news organizations into nothing more than mouthpieces for the corporations that control them. So the idea of fake news, accuracy, etc. pale before the reality of perception management and the ignoring of any content not leading towards higher ratings, enhancement of power and position, etc.
Not having known of or researched you, and before I need to move on to the daily struggle, I'd point you in the direction of Radio4All.net and independent journalists in general that offer accurate information in context. People like Nomi Klein, Chris Hedges, Mark Crispin Miller, Thomas Frank and yes, people like Jimmy Dore and Max Keiser. They mostly work for nothing and promote only the betterment of humanity through appealing to the better angels or our nature from a basis of equity and decency.

Having said that, I found it painful listening to the C-SPAN interview of you by Erik Wemple of WaPo. PLEASE DO INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING ON DR. FORD'S ACCUSATION AGAINST JUDGE KAVANAUGH! I don't trust the FBI right now. I believe Dr. Ford's trauma caused her to black out her accuser's face (she wears coke bottle glasses which could have been knocked off in the attack, or perhaps she was not wearing her contacts after swimming), though I believe that Mark Judge WAS there and knows who did do it. Call Sen Whitehouse's bluff: start by investigating Judge Kavanaugh's July 1, 1982 entry of a gathering at "Timmy's" that includes the 3 people in her allegation + a possible 4th boy (the rest of the boys might have come to the gathering after she ran out). Their yearbook contains their home addresses at the time & you could see if the layout of Timmy's matches her description. I HAVE CONFIRMED that Chris "Squee" Garrett's house layout fits Dr. Ford's story PERFECTLY: no bathroom on 1st floor, requiring Dr. Ford to go to 2nd floor, narrow stairway up from small living room, bedroom at top with 2 beds which is across the hall from a bathroom, & the house is 1/2 mile from the country club. Chris Garrett was the boy Dr. Ford briefly dated, the older brother of a boy she knew from the country club, and other than Mark Judge, was her 1 connection to Georgetown Prep, with the others being merely the "friends of"). I'd also look at Garrett's younger brother. One Mark Judge friend said that Judge probably blacked out the entire year of 1982, which he admits in his memoirs. If Dr. Ford is right, and he blanched upon seeing her later at Safeway, then HE REMEMBERS. In his defense (justifying perhaps immunity), even in his drunkenness, Dr. Ford said he was ambivalent and his jumping on them led to her escape. I believe he knows who did it. Also interview those who knew Dr. Ford back in high school - maybe you'll find clues to this terrible mystery. PLEASE HELP CLEAR JUDGE KAVANAUGH'S NAME & DR FORD'S MEMORY, and in the process, you can stop the mob who will stop at nothing to destroy what's left of this man's life.
