"The Truth Is Out There"

We're going to dig into the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence this pre-Halloween Sunday on Full Measure. We'll talk to a lead scientist on the California-based project, Seth Shostek. Now, Congress is proposing injecting federal tax dollars into the hunt for aliens!

As we approach the midterm elections, we'll check back in with the anti-Trump resistance to see what they're doing to maintain a constant pressure, and how confident they are of making big gains.

In the wake of the apparent murder of a Saudi journalist allegedly at the hands of Saudi agents, we'll step back and examine all the lobbying money the Saudis spend here in the U.S. to hire "foreign agents" to influence public opinion. We'll speak to an expert on it: Lydia Dennett of the Project on Government Oversight.

Flu shots--behind the promotion.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is conducting its annual promotion of flu shots.

It might be worthwhile reviewing some of my past reporting.

Major U.S. government study finds flu shots don't work in elderly.

When the major study found negative results about the effectiveness of flu shots in the elderly (above link), the government wouldn't let the scientists who conducted the research do interviews with me.

On another topic, CDC has recently said this stands to be the worst flu season since the swine flu epidemic.

That reminds me of the investigation I did for CBS News that showed the swine flu epidemic wasn't as advertised:

Swine flu epidemic overexaggerated?

My report on swine flu (above link) hints at the convoluted way that government sometimes counts cases of flu and other illnesses in ways that may make them appear far more prevalent and deadly.

More of my medical and vaccine related reports, as well as government resources, here.

Also at the same link, you'll also find my reporting on EV-D68 and the mysterious outbreaks of polio like paraysis among American children. The CDC refused to even tell us which states the outbreaks are occurring in, even though that information is collected on behalf of public and belongs to us.[hr]

How do members of Congress get rich on their public salaries?

Members of Congress make $174,000 a year. A decent salary-- but not enough to get rich on. So how do so many make millions upon millions while in public service? We investigate Sunday on Full Measure.

Lisa Fletcher has the story of the creator of a DNA website who has now opened up the database to law enforcement. You won't believe how many cold cases they're solving as a result.

And there's a new outbreak of the mysterious polio-like paralysis cases known as AFM that I've been reporting on since 2014. The Centers for Disease Control has kept a tight lid on the illness striking American children. We'll have an update.

Watch on TV or replays anytime online. Livestream at 9:30a ET Sunday! We won't waste your time rehashing news you've already heard all week.

When is recycling a federal crime?

[Above: e-waste recycler Eric Lundgren]

Eric Lundgren made it his mission in life to promote recycling of toxic "e-waste." That's old computers and other electronics that poison our water with mercury or are sent to foreign countries for disposal--poisoning their environment. This week on Full Measure, we have the unbelievable story of why armed federal agents stormed Lundgren's home and how he's now in prison for his recycling "crimes." It's an interview you won't want miss, and one no other Sunday program will have.

We will also hear from Senator Lindsey Graham on the ramifications of the most recent Supreme Court nominee confirmation hearings. Have new precedents been set that will impact how future nominees are treated, and who can get a Congressional hearing at the 11th hour based on what sort of allegations?

And Scott Thuman travels to Brazil to dig into their "fake news" problem ahead of the presidential election there.

Epic document battle

There's an important undercurrent in Washington D.C. with Congress facing ongoing resistance from federal agencies amid the Trump-Russia probe. Some Republicans in Congress have been seeking documents that could get at the heart of alleged misbehavior by some in our intelligence community. But the very agencies that Congress oversees, including the Justice Department, control the information and, so far, they aren't handing a lot of it over. On Sunday's Full Measure we talk about the epic document battle with Rep. Mark Meadows (below), leader of the so-called Freedom Caucus. He'll also tell us how they are searching for accountability from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein amid a New York Times report that he privately spoke of wearing a wire to secretly record President Trump.

Also, Joce Sterman reports from Miami on the hacking risks for cities moving into the future with smart technology. How can entire communities protect themselves from domestic and foreign threats?

And a few thoughts about pursuit of truth and this week's Supreme Court hearing about nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Watch Sunday's Full Measure on TV (partial listings below) or online at www.fullmeasure.news.

The Forgotten Tobacco Wars

Billions of dollars were committed by cigarette makers after they got caught covering up the risks of smoking. But what if you found out not a penny went to the actual victims? This week on Full Measure, we go back in time to an era in which the smoking culture dominated the American landscape. Even doctors told people it was good for them. How victims never got paid and why trials are quietly underway all these decades.

We'll Follow the Money when it comes to America's government flood insurance program and some who say it may do more harm than good, encouraging risky decisions. Lisa Fletcher found one property in Texas that had 22 flood claims worth $2.5 million in 1979-- eight times what the house is worth. She'll dig into that for us.

And are some taxpayer supported state colleges favoring out of state students who are lesser qualified-- because they can charge much higher tuition?

*New* Illegal Immigrant Crime Stats and Costs

With much debate over sanctuary cities and the amount of crime attributable to illegal immigrants, we look at both sides in today's Full Measure cover story. You can see a replay here.

Meantime, I looked through federal records to find the latest known statistics on illegal immigrant crime. Here's some of the information. The information analyzed was compiled by the Government Accountability Office using statistics from the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and a state reimbursement program.

Important MRI Risks Nobody Told You About

A toxic chemical component widely-used in MRI dye has been found to cause serious health risks in some people.

Since our first report on the topic on Full Measure, dozens of countries have banned some of the common dyes used for MRIs.

However, the FDA has chosen a different route here in the U.S.

This information and subsequent warnings are not easy to find, even when searching on the Internet. But you can read about it in my investigative report.

Watch and read the full story here for more original reporting you won't see anywhere else. And pass it on!
