Wikileaks emails: liberal blogger says there are certain truths he would never write

Even if I thought Bill Clinton was a liability I would never in a million years write it, or say it to the media– Clinton supporter Brent Budowsky

In a blatant example that political operatives use the new media to try to sway opinion rather than necessarily give honest assessments, Clinton ally Brent Budowsky acknowledges that he would never tell certain truths in public. Budowsky blogs for The Hill, the LA Progressive, and The Huffington Post. In January, Budowsky sent Clinton campaign chair John Podesta an email advising him to stop insiders from talking about Bill Clinton’s sex life as a liability to Hillary’s campaign:

“My point in this note is that whoever is peddling this crap from somewhere within the Clinton camp is having the effect of encouraging the media to give the issue more prominence. They are hurting both Clintons. I always stay out of intra-staff stuff like this, both Clinton’s would be well advised to advise the people in their orbit to shut the hell up about this. Even if I thought Bill Clinton was a liability I would never in a million years write it, or say it to the media…”

When Pulitzer Prize winning reporter Sara Ganim polled Pennsylvania sports and crime writers and asked if they would have written the Jerry Sandusky stories they all said no. All of them. 100%. So writers routinely pull their punches. If they like the subject of the stories. Or agree with them on issues. Get over it.
