By a 3-to-1 margin, Americans believe there are only two genders, and a majority support laws against transgender treatment for minors.
That’s according to the latest Rasmussen Reports.
The survey found that 71% of American adults agree with the statement that “there are two genders, male and female,” including 57% who “strongly agree.”
Twenty-three percent (23%) disagree, including 10% who “strongly disagree.”
These findings are just slightly changed from December 2021, when Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling sparked controversy by criticizing transgender ideology.
Several states have recently enacted legislation prohibiting transgender treatment for minors.
Sixty-two percent (62%) of Americans approve of legislation making it illegal to perform sex-change surgery on minors, including 46% who “strongly approve” of such laws.
Thirty percent (30%) disapprove of states passing laws to ban such surgeries on minors, including 18% who “strongly disapprove.”
Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Americans approve of laws making it illegal to give hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to minors, including 59% who “strongly approve.”
Thirty-one percent (31%) disapprove of laws against HRT for minors, including 18% who “strongly disapprove.”
These findings are similar to our survey of likely voters in February.

It’s such a head scratcher, but then again not, that they have pushed so hard for the majority of Americans to accept the surgical and physiological mutilation of children, calling anyone, including doctors, who oppose it transphobes. Children, particularly teens, don’t have a clue as to what they want other than wanting something their parents oppose. Adults can do as they please, but allow parents to know what is best for their children. It’s diabolical what is happening. No, I don’t believe Orwell could have ever predicted this insanity.
I will defer to parents in most cases, but there needs to be restrictions on parents too.
A mother and father decided their two year old son wanted to be a girl and had a surgeon start removing his genitals. The surgery was done by age 3 1/2 and the female drugs remained to finish the atrocity.
Then there were the parents that were prostituting their 9th & 10th grade daughters. This was in the 1970s, I was teaching and they were in my classes.
Stupid question. The word gender is meaningless in terms of defining the difference between men and women, as it refers to how a person presents, not what they are. The statement should have been that “there are two sexes, male and female” (biological reality as we are a dimorphic species).
So long as we go on playing the trans activists’ weasel word games, they will be able to continue spreading confusion, particularly among our vulnerable children. Stop it!
I totally agree. I’ve stopped using the word “gender” as it has been corrupted. I only use the word sex now. It’s much harder to misinterpret that word.

It comes as no surprise most people reject this transgender nonsense. Its the few trying to impose their thoughts and believes on the majority. A complete insane idea your transgender or no sex or both. There are two sex’s male and female. Created that way by our creator. Satan is trying very hard to convince the masses otherwise. I say those who believe it are followers of Satan.
I wonder if the people who disagree are considering non binary people… hmmm… it appears that maybe only 10-18% of the population are insane.
It does not matter to the people insistent on forcing acceptance of this child abuse on the majority of people. They could not care less about whether others are offended, let alone whether they stand in opposition to mainstreaming this into the culture.

People can have different opinions on whether an adult, after serious counseling, can determine to mutilate their bodies to facilitate their gender dysphoria but to have only 62% protecting the children against such surgery and medical treatments tells us this nation is going down the wrong path.
Any parent who puts their child in such harm is guilty of abuse IMO!
