(POLL) 54%: Congress is passing meaningless legislation

Fifty-four percent (54%) of likely voters say Congress has passed no meaningful legislation. That’s according to Rasmussen Reports.

Forty-nine percent (49%) say they believe passing good legislation is a more important role for Congress than preventing bad legislation from becoming law. Forty-one percent (41%) say they disagree and see stopping bad laws as more important.

In 2019, 59% said passing good legislation was more important.

Forty percent (40%) of Democrats say they believe Congress has passed legislation that will significantly improve life in America. That belief is shared by just 14% of Republicans and 17% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

  1. Voters chose to send very flimsy majorities to this Congress, on both sides of the aisle. Assume gridlock is what the voters really wanted. Thin in the Senate, thin in the House and stuck with a dementia front for the failed Obama administration in the WH. Not the proper ingredients for much of anything.

You don’t get action until voters demonstrate they mean it, want it, and will have the back of any group of legislators that can deliver it. Whom we elect are not responsible for out-adulting the voters. But rather reflect instead the lack of meaningful mandate from the voters.

Not fair to knee-cap Congress with such paltry voter support, and then claim they are not doing anything. Voters, you are the ones not doing anything. So just chill and take things step by step until you find a direction you really want to go, by far more than one or two vote majorities.

Politics follows culture and we have a lot of Stockholm Syndrome going on in this country today. Easy to whine; much harder to stand up and get what you want.
